Elsewhere, and back

We travel a fair amount. Every time we stay somewhere else, we look for the same thing: what is done better here than at home, and what of it we could bring back.

So these are not lists of sights. What interests us is substance, the things a guest feels on the first day. Whether a beach has its own café, whether the restaurant runs late, how long the wait at the car park is in high summer, where you sit once midnight has passed and sleep is still a way off.

Every place is compared with Split. Split is the one we know best, so comparison is the only honest way to say how good something really is.

Everything we pick up here ends up in the apartment: in what we recommend to guests, in what we prepare in advance, and in the small things we would not have known about had we not seen them somewhere else.
